The West Alabama Food Bank is a full service food bank that seeks to provide our member agencies and their clients with a wide-range of programs and projects designed to meet the diverse needs of West Alabama. Listed below is a snapshot of the WAFB’s capabilities and programs.

Programs • Basic agency warehouse shopping program. • Pre-order system – agency pickup/self-delivery. • County quarterly free distribution program. • USDA commodity program. • Salvage program. • Value-added product program. • Agency specialty item order program. • Community service worker program. • Brown Bag program for needy elderly. • Mobile Food Pantry • Freezer Loan Program • Secret Meals for Hungry Children

Capacity • Dry storage (racked) capacity of over 8,000 square feet. • Cold storage including frozen fork-lift and refrigerated walk-in units. • Two Box trucks, one refrigerated with 14,000 pound freight capacity and one non-refrigerated with lesser capacity. • Forklift, electric and manual pallet jacks. • One freight loading dock and two street level loading bays. Future Programs, Projects & Capacity Building Activities • Mobile food pantry. • Refrigerated trucking. • Additional warehouse and frozen storage space.
